Using the Tuner
In addition to conventional tuning, the VC-12
also allows you to tune your guitar silently by
muting your amp’s output which is essential
when playing live. This feature is called
“silent” tuning.
1. Press the TUNER switch to turn on the
tuner. The BANK display shows .
To use silent tuning, press and hold the
TUNER switch for one second. The BANK
display shows .
2. Tune your guitar so that the central LED
comes on as you pick each string.
When an LED to the left of the central LED
is on, the pitch is too low. When a LED to
the right of the central LED is on, the pitch
is too high.

As you pick each string, the BANK display
shows the name of the nearest note, as
shown in the following table.

3. When you’ve finished tuning, press the
TUNER switch to turn off the tuner and
return to the previous mode.
About Manual Mode
While your Valvetronix amp is in Manual
mode, the VC-12’s BANK display shows
and the VC-12 works the same as for Effect
On/Off mode, in which you can do the follow-
ing:
Switch the Pedal, Modulation, Delay, and
Reverb sections on and off individually
using switches 1 though 4.
Set the delay time by tapping the TAP
switch.
Control your amp’s volume by using the
Volume pedal.
Control Pedal section effects by using the
Expression pedal.
•Tune your guitar using the built-in tuner.
Note: While your Valvetronix amp is in
Manual mode, you cannot select programs
from the VC-12, although they can still be
selected on your amp. You’ll need to cancel
Manual mode on your amp before you can
use the VC-12 to select programs.
Storing Amp Program Data in
the VC-12
You can store your Valvetronix amp’s pro-
grams in the VC-12’s four memories. Each
memory can store 32 programs, which
means you can store 128 programs in total
(32 x 4 = 128).
Storing Program Data
1. Turn off your Valvetronix amp and make
sure it’s connected to the VC-12’s VOX
BUS MAIN connector.
Note: Don’t connect anything to the VC-12's
VOX BUS SUB connector.
2. On your Valvetronix amp, while holding
down the DELAY [TAP] button and the
REVERB [TYPE] button, turn on your
amp.
